Fireside Memories
Some ruins of historic Mayhew Lodge,
built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was frequented by
notables such as Lord Halifax, President Herbert Hoover, Clark Gable,
Susan Hayward, Cesar Romero, Jimmy Stewart, Walt Disney and Maureen
O'Hara. The area was shown in the silent movie "Call of the Canyon" (1923,
Victor Fleming) based upon the Zane Grey novel of the same name. Zane Grey
was inspired to write his novel during a stay in the area.
